This is what have been keeping me busy (craft wise ) in December.

My SIL has requested me to make a few dolly handphone / sunglasses pouch for her.

(They make great Christmas presents).

These are the ones that were wrapped off as Christmas presents by SIL.

These 2 are still available.

This lime green pouch can snug a smartphone comfortably

and can also be used to store your favorite pair of sunglasses or reading glass.

Each dolly is approximately 6 inches tall.

If you were to check out all my previous dolly handphone pouches, you will notice that no 2 handphone pouch are identical. I take pride and care in ensuring that they are dressed and accessorized differently.

They are all unique.... ONE of A Kind ;)

That's why it getting more and more difficult to come up with my ones with my existing stash.

This will be my last craft post for 2011...

2012 will bring new ideas and craft in this blog....

Supplies Surprise! Bazaar 4

This is a long overdue post.

I participated in the Supplies Surprise! Bazaar 4 early this month (3rd Dec 2011).

Have been so preoccupied lately that I have totally forgotten to blog about it.

Guess what???

This morning while flipping through today's local newspaper (The Star),.....

I saw this!!!!

Yes! It's a picture of yours truly taken during the recent Supplies Surprise! Bazaar 4....

Despite the fact that this Bazaar is mainly on selling of Supplies, this time around we were allowed to showcase and sell our handmades too!

This is how my stall looks like at the start of the event. I brought along one of my hand crocheted handbag (see the left hand corner of the picture) and also my DD's Pixelates.

We were almost sold out by the end of the day.

We sold a number of these starter kits for the pixelate too!

We were having a Sale!!!

This couple came all the way from KL just to get some handbag handles from me.

The crowd was good and almost non-stop.

I even had my dear friends from the NNC dropping in.

NNC was having their scheduled Stitching Bee on that day.

Since, I could not attend, they have so graciously held it at a venue close to the Bazaar and adjourned to join me after the Bee.

Overall, I had a Blast!

NNC Mug Rug Exchange

I have finally received my Mug Rugs from my Exchange partners in NNC.

Since it's a secret exchange, I did not know who is giving me the Mug Rug until it was delivered to me.

Zarina hand delivered this to me during the Supplies Surprise! Bazaar early this month. Apart from the Mug Rug, she has generously included a Mug and 2 sachet of Tea for me.

Love the pinwheel motif and also the Sashiko stitiching. Zarina used her HDT for the Sashiko Stitching.

The fabric used on the back of the Mug Rug is so cute.

My second Mug Rug (which is the Chinese Mug Rug) comes from Paul . Despite his very tight work schedule, he drove all the way to my place to hand deliver this to me.

In the Lilac Paper Bag, I found the very pretty Chinese Mug Rug, a lovely tea cup with a unique shaped saucer, a hand sewn tea pouch consisting of 3 sachet of tea and some thin cookies!!!

This Chinese Theme Mug Rug looks so elegant.

I particularly love the Cheongsam very much.

Great colour and choice of fabric.

Would love to wear it ... if only I could fit into it....hahaha.

Paul even sewed a Chinese phrase here.

I think it reads "ming hua ru ming yan"..

I am not good at Chinese phrases

but I guess it literally means

"famous flower enters famous eye"..

Which I guess means ..

"Only people with great taste will be able to admire great beauty"

...hmmm..

Paul, am I correct???

Starry Starry Night

Recently, I have a request to string some of those stars above so that it can be hung from the ceiling. It was a fun and time sensitive project as I need ensure that it will arrive before December 2011. (destination : USA)

It's a party decor for a 3 year old girl's birthday with the theme "Silver Stars". In the midst of completing the project and sending it off, I only managed to take this picture.

10 strings in different length with 3 glittering silver stars and another 30 stars were sent out. Since it was supposed to be for a birthday, I gift wrapped it and included a personal gift for the little girl, too!

It brings a smile to my face knowing that I am sending off my handicraft to be part of someone's celebration.

Crafty Art Market

Last Saturday's Crafty Art Market was quite a blast.

Despite the fact that it had been pour every afternoon, Mother Nature was kind enough to spare us from a downpour on Saturday.

It's almost a year since Crafty started...

making our appearance in Jaya One almost every quarter.

I have participated in almost all of them except one .

Here are some snapshots of my humble little store in Crafty.

With Halloween approaching, I packed my Halloween Themed lucky stars....
... for sales and to give out to some lucky customers.

DD has embarked into crafting of perler beads.
Showcased her creations and to our surprise by the end of the day this board was almost empty!!!

Awesome creation by DD... vocaloids.

Bag N Craft Stall will not be complete without the crochet handbags.

Other items includes Ipad/eReader bean bags,
fabric pot holders (which many mistaken it as purse),
the owl collection of coin purse and keychain holders
and some fabric that I got from Korea.

It was a tiring day yet enjoyable day.

There will be another Crafty mid December.

However, I doubt I will be participating as I have a few custom orders to fulfill.

If you have been wondering why I have been pretty quiet lately, this is because I am busy getting ready for the next Crafty Art Market.

I love participating in this Market (this must be my 4th time as a vendor there), as this is THE place where I get to meet my "fans", friends and Etsy Members.

Here's just a sneak peek on some new items that I will be showcasing this coming Saturday.

Now, it's back to some crafting and packing for The Crafty Art Market.

Fat Bottom Crochet Bag in Red

For those who have been following my blog, you would have noticed that I have not written much on my crocheted handbags lately. Well, the reason is simply, I have not been productive in this area for the year of 2011. With the many Bazaars, Craft Markets that I have been participating, I have been working on smaller projects which are more affordable and suitable for the markets.

Early this year, I started to conceptualized a crochet handbag which is different from what I normally make.

Gosh.... it took me 9 months to complete it!

I remember I started crocheting it in the car on our way back to our hometown for the Chinese New Year celebration. Yes, it was on the eve of Chinese New Year ie Feb 2, 2011. Our journey took about 3 hours and since DH was driving, I was busy crocheting.

This bag was practically made on the road!

There were a couple of long distance trips that we took early this year

(when we had to visit our DS2 during his 3 months stint on the National Service progam).

Come to think about it all my crocheted handbags had been crocheted in the car at some point of time. (normally while waiting to pick up my children from school and activities, I would keep myself busy by crocheting or reading).

Anyway, after those trips, I have not tended to it till early last month. Finally, tied up the loose ends, found the perfect handles for it and had it lined.

The final product..................

This is my favourite so far.

I used the imported Korean yarn and leather handles from Japan to make it.

It's very roomy and can accommodate many stuff that a woman needs to carry on in a handbag.

Perfect to go shopping with!

I love it so much, that I am going to keep this for myself .

Nonetheless, if there are any fans out there who would like to have one, please drop me a line.

I can work out something for you.

Perhaps... in Navy blue, Regal Purple, Dark Chocolate or even a combination of colours.

Now that will be very pretty.

Oh... no worries, it will not take 9 months to make! LOL

Thanksgiving Origami Lucky Stars

With the success of my Halloween Themed Lucky Stars,

I have been cracking my head to come up with some lucky stars for the forth coming Thanksgiving.

A crafter in the making....

While I was busy making dolly handphone pouches during the recent Hari Raya school break, my DD was also keeping herself occupied with her craft.

She made these... PokeBalls.

To our surprise, there were demands for these items and she even have a couple of custom orders.

I am so proud of her.

She is only 13.....

So, to encourage and motivate her, I have been real busy lately... setting up a blogshop for her.

It's a small space for her to showcase what she is capable of creating and avenue to fund her hobby.

Dolly Handphone Pouch

3 months back, I made 2 handphone pouches based on Matryoshka dolls.

I love them so much that I told myself that I am definitely going to make/sew some more. However due to my very busy schedule, only manage to complete them last weekend.

I am so pleased that I have created yet another 3 handphone pouches in this range.

Have a look!

I used lace trimming for her collar and metal spacers (for beadings) as buttons.

I also braided some yarn for her headband.

This "sweetie" has a new owner now.

I gave this to my SIL.

She had requested me to make one for her when she saw the first batch....

Sorry for the long wait :D

I used the Moda Marbles jelly roll fabric (in blue) for this "sweetie".

Creating this headband is fun.

I guess I do love playing dress-up of my dollies.

These dolly handphone pouches are hand sewn.

It's quite dainty.

I spent a lot of time trying to decide how to dress them.

They are limited edition as I would not dress them the same.

So... there will not be a twin or a clone!!!

Apart from being a handphone pouch, it can also be used to store your sunglasses.

Will I make more????

I bet I would.....

But...

It might not be in the near future as my "To-Do" list is a mile long!

(unless there is a demand for it...)

Origami Lotus Flower

Last night a member of our NNC (NeedlesnCrafts) group mentioned that she is making/folding Origami Lotus Flowers.

This got me interested and upon my request, MW posted some photos of her lovely lotus flowers .

When I saw them this morning, I could not control myself...

I had to give it a try.

So, the moment I have some time to spare.....,

I googled how to make it.

Found this tutorial on youtube

Following the simple instructions, I made this :

My Lotus is slightly different from MW's.

Hers are so much prettier than mine.

To top that, I have opted to make my Lotus minute.

I reduced the size by half....

see how small my lotus is...

(approx 2 inches)

It's super easy and fun to make.

Unfortunately, I do have other crafting projects to attend to now...

Will definitely make more in future...

in different colors..

and

different sizes!!!

Halloween Themed Lucky Stars - Revisited

Remember back in October last year, I came up with some Halloween Themed Lucky Stars?

I was quite satisfied back then that I managed to get a couple of orders for them.

I was thinking... if I had listed these items up on Etsy earlier, I might have done better.

So.....

This year, I had these items listed late July....

Guess what????!!!

Within a month....

I had over 500 views

Got into 20 Treasuries,

Over 50 people liking them and

to date

6 orders!!!!

(so far the orders were from USA, UK, Ireland & Greece)

So the past week long holiday has been spent printing, painstakingly cutting the paper manually (strip by strip) and folding them.

Oh... I am not complaining...

I enjoy making them and am so honored by the overwhelming response.

Halloween is still more than a month from now.....

so, who knows...

I might still be folding more of these bats and spiders

in weeks to come!!!!

Mug Rug Craze- Part 2 (Sashiko)

Now.....

time to reveal my second mug rug.................

This Mug Rug is much smaller than the earlier as it measures 7" by 8".

The group (NNC) calls it the Chinese Mug Rug.

I tried to make it oriental by having a Japanese print on the reverse side of the Mug Rug.

Using Bijoux Tiled Primrose (Celery) by Heather Bailey and Moda Marbles in Green, I am able to create a very fresh look for this mug rug. (The recipient's colour preference is taken into consideration). It was a tad too plain with just the strips, so I tried my hands on sashiko stitching on the Moda Marbles in Green. The group (NNC) was talking about sashiko stitching when I was contemplating how else can I "dress up" this mug rug. Thanks to Zarina for bringing up this topic on Sashiko, I did mine using her lovely HDT (hand dye thread). ... Zarina dyes her thread and sells them here.

I believe I will need lots more practice on Sashiko stitching.

Luckily, Diane the recipient of this Mug Rug (who happens to be a Sashiko expert) seemed to be happy with this piece of work.

... doing the happy dance.....

Mug Rugs are so much fun to make. These would definitely not be my last.

Mug Rug Craze (Part 1)

Awhile back, my group of crafters went "goo goo gaa gaa" over the great collection of mug rugs created by all those talented people around the world (who uploaded the pictures in cyberspace). We could not hold ourselves back and decided to join the bandwagon and have our very own Mug Rug Exchange.

I signed up for it and am assigned to make 2 mug rugs for my exchange partners. It took me quite awhile (months) to finally decide the pattern for my mug rugs. My partners are great crafters and I am worried that my work would not meet their standard.

Anyway, after countless researches and drafts, I finally made this for Nik.

Working around Nik's favourite colour, (which is pink), ......

I made her a log cabin mug rug!

This is my first time attempting "log cabin".

I am quite glad that it turned out pretty well.

..... at least I think, Nik likes it.

This is how it looks on the reverse side.

Found this very pretty hexagon patchwork print during a craft fair.

I had so much fun sewing this mug rug.

What an achievement....

..to be able to sew log cabins of width 1 cm for a novice quilter.

There is a second mug rug that I have made for my other exchange partner.

However, I shan't reveal it as yet.....

I shall post about it once my exchange partner received it.

Perler Beads - Bonding with Dear Daughter

Yet another overdue post.

During the last school holidays (end May till early June), we (DD & I) played with Perler Beads....

DD is quite creative (must have got her creativity from her maternal side!).

She asked if I could get her some Perler Beads as she wanted to make a couple of things.

I got her the whole range of perler beads and resulted in Mother and Daughter going crazy over them.

See what we made ...................

They look sooo delicious... DD made all these by herself!

Then.. DD made the Angry Birds....

Don't you think this looks yummy!!!!??

I made this chocolate cupcake....

DD made a strawberry cupcake with a cherry on top!

These watermelons are just perfect for a hot summer's day....

hahaha

It was really fun creating items from perler beads with DD.

We laughed and brainstormed along the way.

We plan to sell them off (if we can).

I coached DD on how to keep records and price her handmade.

Who knows... one day DD will be able to earn enough to turn her hobby into a business!!!

Chelsea Zippered Backpack Tote

When I first saw this, I have made up my mind that one day I must make this.

I could do it the easy way by purchasing the pattern from lazygirldesigns.com.

However, I have challenged myself do it without purchasing the pattern.

Trying to be a smart alec!!

So, after a few days of frantically search the web for more information on this bag and with the help of the video demo , I braved myself to take on this challenge.

Here is what I have done, over the past 2 days (I could have finished it earlier if not for the fact that I needed to get to the craft store for the zipper).

Not too shabby, isn't it?

In fact, I am pretty amazed that it came out to be the exact dimension as the original pattern.

Height : 14 inches

Base : 8" x 8"

(Clap, clap, clap)

The is one little issue though....

the straps could be a wee bit too short.

It would definitely hang better if it is longer...

I did straight line quilting as I am still hopeless with freeform machine quilting.

Need plenty more practice to make it presentable.

This bag is so roomy....

Love the pockets, as they will keep some of my items (in the bag) organised.

This is now my new favourite and looks like it just in time for my trip to Korea!!!

Tissue Paper Flower - Tutorial

I remember when I was younger, I was once bitten by the Tissue Paper flower bug.

For several Chinese New Years the whole house would be decorated with those delicate pastel tissue paper flowers that I would diligently fold a month before the celebration.

I have since stopped doing so (for decades). Just yesterday, I was thinking of how to keep my little 13 year old girl occupied during this school break. I whipped up a sheet of tissue paper and started folding it into a flower. This got my DD interested and she made herself this pretty blue flower.

This is a very simple yet very addictive craft.

All you need to make this 4" (10cm) flower is :

4 sheets of tissue paper 10cm x 20cm (4" x 8")

18" of thin piece of wire (floral wire)

scissors

A) Stack up the 4 sheets of tissue paper neatly on top of each other.
B) Make 1cm accordion folds along the length of the tissue paper.
C) Fold till the end.
D) Fold the 18" wire into half and slip it over the center of the folded tissue paper.
E) Using a sharp scissors, trim the ends of the paper into rounded or pointy shapes. (DD chose rounded for this one)

Separate the 4 tissue layers, one at a time until the flower begins to take shape.

TADAA!!!

1 flower completed in less than 5 minutes :)

Making Kusudama flower

I had wanted to write a Tutorial on Kusudama flower when I blogged about it long time ago. Somehow, it slipped my mind until today. Pardon me for the very very late post...

Anyway, without further delay, here is the Tutorial .

You will need

6 pieces of paper cut into squares. I like them small, so they are 2" x 2" (5cm x 5cm)
Glue

Each piece of paper will yield 1 petal. Normally every flower will have 5 petals glued together. However, I like them in 6 petals per flower.

Fold the paper into half diagonally.

Fold the right corner up to the middle.

Fold the left corner up and this will form a square.

Open up both tips to form a "tulip" shape.

Crease both the right and left tips to form a square.

Tuck both tips into the folds.

Fold the crease back to form a square.

Glue the outer sides of the folded flaps together to form a petal.

Once the glue is dry, assemble the petals and glue them together to form a flower.

I like mine with 6 petals.

If you like you can also embellish them with some glitter glue

Note : Make sure that you wait till the glue is dry before you assemble them together.

I normally keep them overnight before assembly.

New Handphone Pouch

Sometime back, a friend of mine from the NeedlesnCraft (yahoo group) suggested to me that perhaps I could try making keychain pouches based on Matryoshka dolls.

I loved the idea and guess what did I churned out????

2 pretty ladies...

I did not want them to look like this...

So, I made them more Oriental....

I intended to give them names...

However, before I could do so....they found new owners.

(Any suggestions for names for them?)

This dolly in Red Cape carries a red polka dot handbag.

I used the yarn for making my crochet bags as the handbag handle here.

The size is just perfect for a smart phone..

eg iphone or Samsung Galaxy

I added a small pocket inside.

Love this quality Japanese cotton!!!

This dolly has long hair.

Like the Dolly in Red, this one also fits a smart phone.

I enjoyed dressing them up.

I gave her a beaded headband. (beads were courtesy of my DD)

Unlike the dolly in red......

the dolly in pink uses American printed cotton and Japanese linen.

They are so much fun to make.

So.... be rest assured that this will not be the last you see them here.

I will definitely be making some more....

In fact, I have a couple more dolly handphone pouches to make.

This time they will be smaller... (as they are to house slimmer phones).

It's back to the drawing board for now....

Looks like there is going to be more hand stitching for me....

Remember the owl Hand phone pouch I made for my MIL?

Well, I made another one similar to it.

Only difference is the eyes.

I switched back to the normal stitched on buttons for the eyes as my DD commented that those wiggly eyes with eyelid looks creepy.

What do you think??

Yes!!!! that's exactly how many origami lucky stars there are in these 2 containers.

I have been meticulously folding all of them for the past 1 week.

Exactly a week ago, a lady from France commissioned me to make 1000pcs of personalised origami lucky stars for her wedding.

500pcs in lime green

and 500pcs in fuchsia

It's quite tedious as each strip of paper has to be manually cut precisely.

Then it has to be folded in such a way that the text will be centered.

These lucky stars measures 0.75" or 2cm from tip to tip.

They will be used as decors and also confettis for the wedding.

Guess what!!

I am throwing in some super tiny lucky stars for her too!

A Pleasant Surprise

A couple of days ago I found a parcel lying on my Dining table on returning home after sending DD to school.

(DS1 left it there after receiving it from the postman as he was on his way out to the Library).

I wasn’t expecting anything to arrive by post!

When I saw the parcel, I noticed that the sender is Radha

(a dear friend from the NeedlesNCrafts Group)

from Kedah, Malaysia.

This is what I found when I opened the parcel…..

A lovely hand crocheted scarf.

It comes with a note from Radha, stating that this is a gift from her.

She had to mail it to me as she will not be attending the Stitching Bee at my place this Saturday.

How sweet and thoughtful of her....

It's crocheted with hairpin lace stitch.

I must learn how to do this!!!

Love it to bits!!!

Another Custom Order for Sized Up- Owl Pouch

This is a scheduled post.....

Remember early March, I posted on Cori's sized up owl pouch????

Well, shortly after the post, I received a request to make a similar pouch.

This time it is going to be a birthday present for somebody's best friend.

(How sweet!!!!)

Though the pouch was completed and delivered early April, I will only publish this post early May as the birthday is end of April.

This is what the Birthday Girl received.

Owl Cell phone Pouch for Sister.

I promised my younger sister awhile back that I will make her a pouch for the cell phone. Took me a real long while to finally make one for her.

Sorry, Jen for the long wait.....

Anyway... this is what I got her.....

Dimension : 5" (13cm) tall x 3.5" (9cm) wide

She likes the colour.

It's the same design as the one I made for my MIL.

However, I am I not using the wiggly eyes.

Those wiggly eyes are had to be glued on as they are not the sew-on type.

Owning to that the eyes kept dropping out.

So, I will need to revert back to the regular ones.

Looks much better, right???

Owl Mobile phone pouch for MIL

I have received numerous requests to sew some owl mobile phone pouches.

I finally had time work on it last night.

Measuring 13cm (length) by 9cm width, this is my first mobile (handphone) phone pouch....

I am testing some "stick on" wiggly eyes for this pouch.

Love the eyes.... however, I still prefer those sew-on eyes as I am worried the eyes will peel off with time.

Sleepy eyes ;D

My MIL (who is visiting) likes it so much..... I have decided to give this to her.

See... she has her phone in it....

There is a small pocket in this pouch which will come in handy for some loose change.

Pressie for Mommy Dearest

Mommy is a Taurus and we celebrated her birthday last month during the schools 1 week semester break.

Here is my birthday pressie for her....

Owl signifies wisdom while the bamboo (print) symbolized longevity.

Hand-stitched this specially for Mommy Dearest to wish her a long life.

Mommy prefers it as a handbag than a pouch.... so I added a strap for her.

I like the matching flowers on the strap.

4th NNC Anniversary Meet

A month ago, I joined a Yahoo group called Needles n Crafts. It is such a dynamic and fun group. The group was gearing up for it's 4th Anniversary Meet and I am honoured that they extended the invitation to me too.

I kinda embroidered on it .

The edging is first blanket stitched and then crocheted to give it a lacy effect.

Owl Sling bag for Zoe

Last week, my youngest sister and her family came over for a visit.

It was the mid semester break for schools here in Malaysia.

Zoe, 3 year old niece loves pink and handbags.

So I made here this.

It's an Up sized Owl coin Purse.

I did not add any pockets inside as she will not need them.

Attached a faux leather pink strap an embellished it with a pink flower with a red rivet.

These are items I got from Japan recently for my bag making.

So, with this..... it is now a sling bag for Zoe.

I know she likes it as she was hanging on to it all the time.

(Probably fearing that the cousins will take it away from her!)

After the Etsy Handmade Market

I had wanted to post this earlier, BUT.... I have been sooooooooo busy.

The Etsy Handmade Market had been quite good for me (you can read about it in my other blog ).

Most of my keychain pouches were snapped up and I even received a number of custom orders.

So, this is what I have been doing the past fortnight.

These 2 pink owls are for a lady who loves pink.

She requested for one to be slightly larger, I obliged.

Another Sized up Owl Pouch

I showed a dear friend of mine, Cori's Sized up Owl Pouch just before I mailed it to her.

She fell in love with it and made me promised to sew her one.

This is what I made for her....

Note : the eyes of the owl is different from Cori's.

Instead of buttons, I made 2 Yo-Yo quilts for them.

Sized Up - Owl Pouch

Over a month ago I received a request from this sweet girl, Cori from Utah, USA if I could make her a bigger size coin purse.

She wanted to use it to keep her laptop power cord.

As I always like to make new things, I took up the challenge.

So, she commissioned me to make this.

See how much it has been sized -up. This is a 8" x 6" pouch.

I added 2 compartments inside so that Cori could put in her thumb drive, etc.

It was completed a week after Chinese New Year and mailed out to Cori immediately.

Since Cori wanted it as a surprise, I had to hold on this post till today when Cori wrote to inform me that she has received it and loves it very much.

It makes my day!!!

The sewing week

I never thought that all my owl keychain pouch would be snapped up before the Handmade Market today.

In fact late last week they were all SOLD.

So, I had to go on a frantic mode to sew some keychain pouch for today's event. The keychain pouch has always been a HOT item.

After many hours of stitching ( a major part of this item is hand-stitched) these are what I have for today's event.

If you remember my previous owl keychain pouches you would have noticed that I have made some changes in this batch.

The leaves at the end of the string has been replaced with a flower.

I Love to change the design every now and then.
See.. my owls are all unique :))))

I even came up this a cute elephant!

I think this is a Mouse!!!

And this pink bunny ... is a special/custom order by a customer whom I met in the previous Crafty Art Market (a fortnight ago).

Now... I got to get ready for the Handmade market later today. Bringing all the above there and hoping they will also sell like HOT CAKES!!

Tatting

Yes! I have finally got my hands into tatting!!!!!!

I always spend Chinese New Year's Day in my in-law's place.

Since I do not gamble, I would normally have time to myself.

I often take this opportunity to read a book or two.

This year, I decided to learn how to do tatting.

Here is what I have accomplished!

My first butterfly.

I hanged it on my favourite straw tote bag.

I think is very pretty.

The stitches are not very neat.

I will need more practice.

I would like to try tatting a bookmark in the future.

Hopefully, it will be soon;)))))

Organizer for my Linziclips

As you might already know, I love hairclips.

Since young I am constantly searching for great quality and trendy hair accessories.

Owing to this when I found this wonderful hairclip called Linziclip online, I went ahead and brought Linziclips into Malaysia and South East Asia.

(Selling and distributing them through my online webstore, Bitsofpink.com)

Now ... I am the proud owner all the different designs of Linziclips in Malaysia ;D

I do need a proper storage for all my Linziclips.

I do not like to keep them in a box as I love to admire them.

I love exhibiting them as they are so pretty.

So, I made myself a Linziclips Organizer!!!!

This look like any normal tote bag.

I attached strips of twill tape along the bag and secure them by sewing lines across the bag.

The Linziclips are clipped onto the twill tape neatly.
See how pretty they are!!!

The Tote Bag (Linziclip Organiser) is hung on the wall.

At a glance, I can see all my Linziclips.

No more looking high and low for my Linziclips.

Nor will there be any Linziclips lying around in the room as once I remove it from my hair, I just clip it onto the Organiser!!!

This also can be a deco for my room.

Another great thing about this organiser is... it is reversible.

With the Linziclips secured, the bag can be turned inside out and I can carry all my Linziclips around.

The Linziclips are all snugged in cozily and the padding on the bag will protect them from being damaged.

Perfect for taking them on vacation.

What can I say.......

Can't leave home without my Linziclips :D

I have churned out more owls lately.

In fact I must have sewn almost 3 dozen of them in total.

What do you do when you have such a lovely piece of cloth????

I bought some fabrics from a fellow Malaysian Etsian last month.

Kelly of Fabric Fanatics was so sweet as she gave me this fat quarter for FREE (together with my merchandise).

The fabric is so pretty and vibrant.

Love those lollipops, sweets, cupcakes and ice creams!!!!

I have agreed to sew an iphone case/pouch for another fellow Malaysian Etsian.

This material is just perfect for this project as she had wanted it in bright colours with preference for purple, blue and green.

So, this is what I have done with the fabric.........

An Iphone (with casing can snug in) comfortably in it.

There is also an extra pocket for name cards, etc.

The pouch has a matching fabric wrist strap.

No zipper and the owner prefers velcro.

This is my 1st phone pouch.

More Owls (Coin Purse)

I love sewing those little owls.

Apart from the keychain holders (Pouch), I have been making little owl coin purses too!

Look... they are so cute...

I got the pattern from Keyla Lou.

The minute I saw it on Etsy, I fell in love with it.

So, I purchased the pattern and started making them.

I did tweak the pattern a little, though.

Instead of embroidering the eyes, I used black buttons.

I prefer this, as it gives dimension to the owl.

I also added a small loop (made of satin cord) on one side of the coin purse.

With this, the coin purse can be hooked to a wrist strap.

I have affixed my own label in the interior.

Dimension : 4" wide c 2.75" high x 1.5" deep

(10cm x 7cm x 4cm)

These little hoots has also been a hit. Like the owl keychain holders, I have sold almost half of my first batch. Will need to replenish them soon...........

Into Fabrics and Sewing......

I have been rather quiet last month....Have not been blogging much as I have been soooooooooo busy crafting. Apart from the usual crocheting of handbags, (which I have made quite a few new ones....will post about them later) I am into sewing & quilting.

It all started with our Team Etsy Malaysia idea of a secret Santa/Santarina gift exchange. I made this for Evelin (a member of our Team Etsy Malaysia). A stripy owl key chain holder.

Had so much fun making it that I continue to churn out more owl key chain holders. They are so cute and I really enjoyed creating them. I had intended to stock them up for the KLPAC Open Day on 23rd January 2011 and also to list them in my Etsy store , However, before this could happen many of my little owls were snapped up!!! Wow! Did not even have time to snap a photo of those that were sold.

Looks like I will need to make more owls soon :).

Store your keys in the cozy holder of the owl's belly by pulling the leaves up. This will prevent the keys from scratching your bag's lining and will definitely be an item of a discussion. Whe you reach home, just hang it on the wall or in the cabinet... doubles up as a decor too!!!

As it is made from 100% American Cotton or Japanese Cotton, this owl is soft to touch and washable. However, little owl will prefer to be hand washed.....

This is my favourite bag amongst the last three handbags that I crocheted lately.

I named it "Moonlight Lady" because the song "Moonlight Light" by Julio Iglesias kept playing in my mind when I was working on this bag.

Dimension :

Top width : 13" (33 cm)

Bottom Width : 10.5" (27 cm)

Height : 9.5" (24 cm)

Depth : 3.5" (9 cm)

This tote bag is larger than the previous two. It is made from a combination of 2 high quality Korean yarn. A midnight blue metallic yarn and a variegated blue and white yarn.

A genuine Swarovski crystal hand sewn in the center of each and every motif (flower) to enhance the glam of the bag and create more "bling".

The handles of this tote bag is a pair of chrome link chain hand-crocheted with the same metallic midnight blue to enhance the aesthetic value of this creation.

To top that, the link chain is attached to a ring which is crocheted with the same metallic yarn and secured onto the bag.

This is something new as I have to use different materials to form the bag handles.

I love the effect it creates!

The interior has a beautiful lining of navy blue fabric fitted with a zip pouch and a few other pouches. Enough room for all your needs like cell phone, lipstick, pen, etc. There is also enough room in the middle to stash other items.

A zipper is used as closure.

I particularly like the base of this bag. Even though, I only use a single type of yarn here, but the variegated yarn has created a very interesting effect here.

This bag is currently rank No 1 in my list.

The Little Blue Tote

This Little Blue Tote is yet another crochet handbag in my Blue & Black collection

A simple blue bag with 2 rows of interlocking yarns in shades of white, aqua and blue.

It is hand-woven to create an impression of 2 rows of lace.

Dimension :

Top width : 10" (25 cm)

Bottom Width : 7.5" (19 cm)

Height : 7.5" (19 cm)

Depth : 3.5" (9 cm)

The handles are made from black braided flex rope with wooden beads and ring.

Take a peek at the base of this bag. It is a graduation of shades of blue!

The interior has a beautiful navy blue lining fabric fitted with a zip pocket and a few pouches catering to all your needs - cell phone, lipstick, pen, etc.

There is definitely enough room in the middle to stash other items.

The Little Black Bag

As promised... my next few posts will be dedicated to introducing all those bags that I have crocheted in the past couple of months.

I had wanted to come up with a blue and black collection. So you will definitely see many of such colours in my new range.

Let's start with the smallest baby in the collection.............

The Little Black Bag

Dimension :

Top width : 10" (25 cm)

Bottom Width : 7.5" (19 cm)

Height : 6.5" (16 cm)

Depth : 3.5" (9 cm)

This little cutie is made from 2 different types of black crochet yarn. The fancy black yarn creates a soft touch and furry look for this bag.

I took quite awhile to complete this bag (despite the size) as I could not find the right embellishment for it. Took me almost 2 months to finally find the prefect embellishment for it.

What makes this bag different from most of my previous work is that, this bag do not have a zipper for closure. It is intentionally left open and a string of crystal in bind together to for a loop/hop as closure.

This is also the focal point for the bag as a circular glass button is snug neatly to keep the bag closed.

See how the circular glass button draws the eyes to the bag

The strap of 4 rows little crystals is created by stringing together a strand of crystal to form a band at the back and an loop in front.

The base is a simple plain black.

No fancy yarn to create the furry effect on the base.

This should be a great compliment to the little black dress for a great night out!

Just came back from the Crafty Art Market @ Jaya One. This inaugural event is made possible by the good people of KLue exclusively for Etsy Malaysia Local Team.

Had a real wonderful time meeting the fellow Etsians from Malaysia. The atmosphere was upbeat and everyone was friendly. So much talent and creativity at site.

I was initially a little anxious as to how my items would be received. To my greatest joy, I had many people who came up to me and complimented on them. In fact I even managed to sell 2 bags and some origami lucky stars. To me, this is quite an achievement... my booth was probably the one offering the most expensive items! (doing the victory dance!!!)

Alize, a friend who shares the similar interest in crochet and sewing came along to help me man the booth. Thanks to dear Alize, I had time to wonder around and get to know the other Etsian vendors there. I kind of hopped from one booth the the other (like a little girl in a toy store!) admiring all those great works. The crowd was good too!

Now..... back to reality... I will be posting up the many items that I have made lately (but have not got the time to post them) in Etsy.com soon.

At last......

I completed the last 3 hand crochet handbags for the Crafty Art Fair.

They are part of my Blue & Black Collection.

Have been working on them for a couple of months.....

Took such a long time as I could not decide on the embellishment.

Hers is a preview of those 3 bags :

Quilted Bags - Belle

Phew!!! I finally completed 6 quilted bags last weekend.

I turned these into

THIS!!!!

After days of sewing/quilting frenzy, I churned out a satisfying 6.

I had to give them a name.

The originator of these bag, calls it "Kvadratväska" which means "Squarebag" in Swedish.

The name is too much of a tongue-twister for me....so I am going to call it

"Belle".

Belle means beautiful in French.

Don't you think this is a good name for it?????

These are my "Belles"

Since Christmas is around the corner, I have made a couple them using Christmas Theme fabric.

Busy Busy Busy

I have been rather quite here lately.

This does not mean that I have not been crafting.

On the contrary, I have my hands full with many craft projects.

Just to give you a sneak peek... here is something I have been working on lately

This is just one of the many projects that I have.

I am also working on 3 more hand crocheted handbags, which will need to be ready in a fortnight.

Why such a hurry?????

Well, this is why.....

Team Etsy Malaysia (where I am a member) has been invited to partake in this monthly event by KLUed.

This is our first exclusive craft fair and everyone is excited.

I will be having a booth there.

Thus rendering why this pair of hands have been so busy trying to churn out more items for the fair.
